Rhinos start the preseason with a 2-1 victory and 0-0 draw.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Rhinos defeated Canisius College 2-1 in a preseason friendly on Friday evening.  Newcomer Antonio Correia (Cape Verde) had a memorable debut, opening his goal account in the 21st minute off an assist by Ryan James. The lead was very brief, as Canisius would strike back just 2 minutes later through an impressive free kick by Sophomore midfielder Melvin Blair that bent around the wall and into the top left corner.  However, the Rhinos would have the last laugh as trialist Jochen Graf (Sweden) would put one away in the 64th minute that held up until the end.

"Tonight was what we needed, obviously, after a week of training to evaluate players," stated Coach Bob Lilley, "We were able to play 22 guys, 11 in the first half, 11 in the second half.  For me, it answers a lot of questions. We have to make decisions on players this week, and bring in more players next week."

The size of the crowd exceeded expectations at Capelli Sport Stadium on a brisk Friday night.  Rhinos owners David and Wendy Dworkin opened up the suites to the fans and provided them with coffee and donuts.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Rhinos (1-0-1 preseason) were held to a draw in their second of five preseason friendlies Sunday afternoon. The match was extremely competitive, with both sides having their chances.  The Rhinos held most of the ball and looked much sharper than their opening fixture.

"I think today was a good test," stated Assistant Coach Mark Pulisic, "Syracuse is a strong program.  The strides we made this week showed, I thought it was very positive.  Today showed the guys are starting to get on the same page, and we're moving forward.

The size of the crowd exceeded expectations yet again at Capelli Sport Stadium, as temperatures hovered around 20 degrees at kickoff.  Rhinos owners David and Wendy Dworkin opened up the suites to the fans once again and provided several amenities free of charge.
